Cartier releases four new Ballon Bleu de Cartier watches – two 33mm women’s models and two 40mm men’s models. All four present a stunning array of colours, are equipped with automatic movements and have been finished on a stylish steel bracelet.
Cartier has been able to transcend styles and even gender through its range of exquisite Ballon Bleu de Cartier watches. The models cater to the needs and tastes of both male and female luxury watch collectors. The collection was first launched in the year 2007 and instantly stood out for its rounded case and its beguiling blue sapphire-adorned crown built into the structure of the case and bezel. As the collection has grown, it has welcomed extra flat designs, moon phase complications, chronographs, tourbillons and scintillating diamond-adorned models into the range. Now Cartier welcomes four new models into the series - two 40mm models for men and two 33mm models for women. All four iterations are crafted from stainless steel and are powered by an in-house made automatic movement.
What makes the Ballon Bleu de Cartier watch so special?
The year 2007 marks the birth of the popular Ballon Bleu de Cartier watch. Having acquired a reputation for creating unusual case shapes - including the rectangular-shaped Tank and square-shaped Santos de Cartier watch - the release of the Ballon Bleu watch marked something new for the manufacturer. The range is home to case sizes that span from a discreet 28mm diameter to a much broader 46mm. Some key features distinguish a Ballon Bleu de Cartier watch from others. These include a crown capped by a domed blue sapphire or spinel cabochon, an hour track represented by crisp black Roman numeral hour markers (although some have diamond-adorned hour markers) and a perfectly round case that has been inspired by a floating balloon above the wrist.
Some Cartier watches from the Ballon Bleu collection come in luxurious 18ct rose gold case, 18ct white gold, or 18ct yellow gold cases, others are crafted from classic stainless steel. Some feature tourbillons that distribute the fluctuations in weight caused by gravity, improving the movement’s performance and accuracy. Whether new to the eye-catching design of the Ballon Bleu de Cartier watch or looking to learn a little more about this interesting collection, there are several reasons why purchasing the Ballon Bleu makes for such a great investment. These timepieces are offered in mechanical or quartz-powered options and mix luxurious materials, alluring gemstones and cutting-edge timekeeping technology with a robust case and legible dial. This bubble-shaped watch is not only a firm favourite amongst Cartier enthusiasts either. The manufacturer itself has a soft spot for this model since it offers something unique within the market, especially for females. Its design is simple and beautiful but refrains from the elaborate watch designs often launched by leading brands for the female market. It is low-key but attractive at the same time, with a parred back design that keeps a strong focus on timekeeping essentials.
The new 33mm women’s Cartier Ballon Bleu watches
The two new Cartier Ballon Bleu watches for ladies are sized at 33mm and crafted from stainless steel. Beautifully proportioned for the female wrist, the models boast the same perfectly rounded case design that can be instantly picked out from across the room. Each 33mm model holds an automatic movement inside the heart of a 30-meter water-resistant case. Both of these Ballon Bleu de Cartier watches for women share the same blue silvered sunray brushed dial. This shimmering display is surrounded by a halo of light created by a bezel set with 50 round brilliant-cut diamonds in the model ref. CRW4BB0028. The other lady’s model ref. CRWSBB00062 goes without the addition of the diamonds, offering an understated yet elegant look. Both watches feature sword-shaped central hour and minute hands in blued steel and a slender second hand that stretches out to the hour track in silver-coloured Roman numerals. Like all Ballon Bleu de Cartier watches, these models feature an inner minute track and a fluted crown set with a synthetic cabochon-shaped spinel that is incorporated into the profile of the case. Both models are fitted on a matching stainless steel bracelet with links crafted from a mix of fine-brushed and polished finishes. The 9.96mm-thick case is topped with an anti-reflective pane of sapphire crystal glass front.
