More on Bremont Watches
Bremont is a British luxury watchmaker founded in 2002 by brothers Nick and Giles English. The company’s rich catalogue demonstrates a passion for authentically-styled wristwatches inspired by a love for all things aviation and military-themed. The watchmaking company was formed after the tragic passing of the brother’s father, Euan English, an aeronautical engineer who instilled within his sons a passion for aviation and engineering. When Nick and Giles later crossed paths with a World War 2 pilot and engineer, Antoine Bremont, their love of mechanical devices drew the brothers and the ex-war pilot together in a voyage that would mark the birth of the first few Bremont wristwatches developed in the Henley on Thames manufacturing facility. The first five years were dedicated to putting each timepiece through a rigorous set of quality and control tests, before the first Bremont watch collection launched in 2007.
Today Bremont watches are collected by fans of aviation, history and military personnel. Over the years, the British watchmaker has developed limited edition timepieces infused with real tangible slices of history. Take, for example, the Bremont Codebreaker with its crown incorporating an original piece of pine taken from the floor of Hut 6 at Bletchley, or the Bremont P 51 with original parts from the famous 1944 Mustang WWII aircraft held inside its design. Most recently Bremont released the Hawking limited edition watch with a wood sample originating from an original desk drawer used by Professor Stephen Hawking.
Some of Bremont’s most popular collections to date are those from the company’s Aviation series. These include its Solo watches, Airco watches, Pilot Chronographs, Martin-Baker watches and timepieces from the U-2 series. Bremont also has a reputation for creating robust, accurate and legible diver’s watches. The Bremont Supermarine watch collection is home to chronograph complications, as well as simple time and date tools, including the company’s S502 Jet watch inspired by military night operations and, of course, the Supermarine Descent II watches with water-resistant qualities that reach up to 500 meters and features that include GMT functions. Bremont’s Motorsport collection is where the watchmaker combines its heritage in precision timekeeping with some of Britain’s leading engineers in the motorsport industry like Jaguar, Norton and Williams F1. Most recently Bremont has collaborated with Williams Racing to develop the Bremont WR-22 to celebrate its role as official timing partner to the Williams Racing team.
The Bremont Armed Forces watch collection is where models like the Argonaut Bronze watch and Broadsword watches can be found. Underpinning the company’s motto; Tested Beyond Endurance, these timepieces are approved by Her Majesty's Armed Forces and as a result, Bremont is the only watchmaker allowed to legitimately display the signs, symbols and Heraldic Badges of all three services of the MoD upon its designs.
