More on Patek Phillipe Gondolo Watches
The Patek Philippe Gondolo watch was first designed in 1993. It provided wristwatch connoisseurs with a new form of timekeeping. Patek Philippe bear their traditional roots through these designs, flashing elements of the company’s prestigious history through some notable characteristics. The history of the Patek Philippe Gondolo watch began back in 1872 where the first Brazilian pocket watch was created. The watch was named the Chronometro Gondolo - the name of which was used again by Patek Philippe 120 years later. During the 1920’s, Art Deco became a popular art and design movement which Patek Philippe definitely drew inspiration from when later creating the Gondolo watch. Other distinct features alongside the distinct tonneau-shaped case include an authentic alligator strap with square scales and in some designs, contrast hand stitching that runs down the edges of the band. The pin style buckle that fastens the leather strap to the wrist is often finished in the same metal as the case, creating a uniform look, with slightly curved edges to mimic the profile of the Gondolo watch.
The Patek Philippe Gondolo Small Seconds Manual Winding Ladies watches has received a delicate showering of small glistening diamonds placed around the edge of the dial. The formation of these 108 stones enhances the soft, curved shape of its surrounding 18ct rose gold cushion-shaped bezel, complete with a polished crown and broad lugs. The watch promotes traditional timekeeping, presenting brown coloured Roman numerals on a silver grained dial. A sapphire crystal glass lens sits on top of a small seconds dial at 6 o’clock, adding technical appeal to the design. As any reliable Gondolo watch would do, this timepiece promises accuracy in the form of the 215 PS, which is put on show through the glass on the underside of the watch. Only the top D to G colour range of diamonds are used in Patek Philippe Gondolo watches. They must be internally flawless to reflect the perfection of the Gondolo watch design itself. The diamonds in this design have been set by hand - each row perfectly aligned in level formations - each one pointing in the same direction. This special timepiece is completed on a shiny dark chestnut strap with cream-coloured stitching, and an 18ct rose gold pin buckle to provide a snug fit against the wrist.
