Whilst the company are famous for their expertly developed in-house manufactured mechanical movements, they certainly don’t shy away from the simplicity and the beauty of a quartz movement. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso watch is probably the most widely recognised timepiece from the Maison for having been fitted with a quartz movement. Originally inspired by a polo match, the sports watch has come a long way since its birth in 1931. Whilst the original engine of this watch was a mechanical movement, it wasn’t produced by Jaeger-LeCoultre. The introduction of the quartz movement soon made the Reverso a thing of the past during the Second World War, however the timepiece soon made a comeback with a quartz movement three years later – even more refined than before.
