The manufacture of a Cartier watch is now completed in one of the largest fully integrated watch production facilities in Switzerland. In the heart of an area renowned for its watchmaking tradition, the Cartier manufacture is nestled in peaks of the Jura Mountains in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

Cartier began manufacturing their own in-house movements in around 2004 when the demand for this specialised wristwatch began to soar. Rather than relying on a supplier network, (which up until around a decade ago worked well), access to mechanical movements from suppliers within the Richemont Group was simply not enough to quench the thirst for Cartier's innovative desires. Cartier began to notice that this network didn't support the level of quality in a manufactured movement that their devoted watch followers from around the globe required. Delays in sourcing movements and parts for this intricate stage of the manufacturing process were slowing production down and there were concerns over the future of Cartier watch repairs. The Maison soon realised that they could not ask someone else to produce movements that were to meet the demands of their expectations any longer. Instead, they were to begin making their own.

The Cartier Tank MC automatic watch in blue, for example, is a beautiful creation which boasts a traditional Roman numeral dial, framed by the classic Cartier square shape. A small second dial at 6 o'clock creates balance to the dial when combined with the iconic Cartier lettering at the top hemisphere of the display. The watch is powered via the Cartier Calibre 1904-MC movement which promises an impressive 48 hour power reserve - perfect for those gentlemen who rely on their watch to ensure that they always turn up to their affairs on time, no matter what the occasion.
