In 2019, we saw Vacheron Constantin launch the beautiful Egerie collection for women. Continuing with these developments, we feature a couple of elegantly crafted tourbillon timepieces from the Traditonelle collection in this guide to the brand’s new 2020 releases, as well as some highly complex perpetual calendars. Read on to discover what Vacheron Constantin will be tempting us with this season.
La Musique du Temps Les Cabinotiers Grand Complication Split-Seconds Chronograph 'Tempo'
The 50mm Vacheron Constantin La Musique du Temps Les Cabinotiers Grand Complication Split-Seconds Chronograph 'Tempo' watch is as technical as its namesake suggests. Its an incredibly complex timepiece which makes perfect sense when you consider the fact that the brand’s Les Cabinotiers department will often spend years at a time coming up with an innovative instrument like this. It’s part of the larger "La Musique du Temps," series, and is double-sided. This unique advantage gives you the option to decide which side of the watch you want to showcase on your wrist depending on your mood.
There’s a fully-loaded dial depicting all the features of a perpetual calendar on one side of the watch, along with a split-seconds chronograph. On the other – a tourbillon regulator that is dedicated to astronomical indications. The watch is also a minute repeater. At the 3 o’clock location you get the sunrise and sunset features. Across the other side, you get the number of hours per daylight and night. Under the tourbillon cage at 12 o’clock is the power reserve indicator and at 6 o’clock there’s an innovative moon age and moon phase indicator. The Vacheron Constantin La Musique du Temps Les Cabinotiers Grand Complication Split-Seconds Chronograph 'Tempo' watch is certainly up there with some of Vacheron’s most technical of complication watches. The price tag of this 18ct rose gold watch with calibre 2756, is yet to be confirmed, so keep a lookout for this information soon to be released.
Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Blue
Next up from the Vacheron Constantin Overseas collection, is the Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Blue watch which brings together the brand’s stunning gold bracelet and captivating blue dial that was released by Vacheron Constantin last year, albeit for different models. Now both elements of the design can be enjoyed in one timepiece. The 41.5mm 18ct 5N pink gold Overseas Perpetual watch also comes with a blue rubber strap and a blue leather band for alternating via the watch’s quick-change mechanism. You can, therefore, transform the luxurious watch into something more sporty or classic respectively. For £71,000 you’re getting a three-in-one design, so your money will be well spent in this investment piece. The blue lacquered dial, which is home to a day, date, month and moon phase feature, interacts beautifully with the blush pink tones of this 50-meter water-resistant case. If you were wondering what impeccable movement powers this sophisticated Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual watch – the answer is the Calibre 1120, equipped with a useful 40-hour power reserve.
Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Skeleton
If you’re looking for something more technical – the 41.5mm 5N Pink gold Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Skeleton watch (priced at around £92,800) offers a design close to the brand’s 2016 model, which featured the same base movement and dial layout, as well as last year’s rose gold bracelet variation. As its name suggests, the case promises very discreet dimensions when donned to the wrist – a depth of just 8.1mm to be precise. The Maltese Cross bracelet is a nice finishing touch to this timepiece, but you can also change the watch over to a rubber or leather alternative since it comes with both options. With a calendar and moon phase function that won’t need adjusting until the year 2100, this Vacheron Constantin watch offers you everything you’ll ever need to keep on top of a busy schedule, encased within an indulgent low-maintenance design.
Les Cabinotiers Astronomical Striking Grand Complication – Ode to Music
The latest in a series of Vacheron’s astronomical complications has arrived in the form of a 45mm 18ct 5N rose gold case adorned with a sapphire crystal front and back. The remarkably crafted minute repeater (with a price yet to be confirmed) is a double face design which, on one side, features a perpetual calendar, an equation of time marchante, an indicator displaying the sunrise and sunset, a length of day and night indicator, and indicators for equinoxes, solstices, and signs of the Zodiac, as well as phases of the moon. Flip the watch over to its underside and you get a star chart and a month indicator. It’s also powered by the meticulously crafted and incredibly thin Vacheron calibre 1731. If you’re interested in astronomical timepieces to start with, you’ll love this Vacheron Constantin Les Cabinotiers Grand Complication watch, which neither compromises on wearability or thinness.
Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Tourbillon Chronograph and Traditionnelle Tourbillon
Lastly, we have the ladies Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Tourbillon watch and its chronograph variation. The latter combines the Traditionelle Tourbillon and a 45-minute mono-pusher chronograph in one design for the very first time, making it a particularly interesting timepiece. The 42.5mm case is crafted from 18ct 5N rose gold and features a display caseback that showcases the peerless performance of the Calibre 3200 movement, powering away at the heart of a 30-meter water-resistant structure. The dial of the Traditionelle Tourbillon Chronograph features sunken chronograph sub-dials surrounded by a railway minute scale and a useful tachymeter scale that will allow you to measure speed based on distance. The watch comes in at just under £200,000, which - considering it has been developed by the hands of some of the world’s most skilled craftsmen - is a well-justified price.
The Vacheron Constantin Traditionelle Tourbillon model offers a much simpler dial layout but more than makes up for it with its diamond decoration. There are two case materials you can choose from. The 39mm 18ct 5N rose gold variation is priced at around £115,000 and features diamonds on the side of the case, the bezel, the lugs and the trim around the tourbillon open-heart window at 6 o’clock. The 18ct white gold version is priced higher because it features an all-diamond-set design with glistening stones embedded into the surface of its dial, as well as its case, costing around £160,000. Both timepieces are powered by the 2160/1 Calibre, which delivers a power reserve of 80 hours. Whether it’s the iced-out white gold Traditionelle Tourbillon you prefer, complete with a grey satin strap with calfskin lining, or the blue leather rose gold watch with mother of pearl dial – these two exquisite models certainly embody Vacheron Constantin’s passion for luxury and refined craftsmanship.
