The latest addition to the Conquest V.H.P. (very high precision) collection comes in the form of a chronograph that runs on a technically superior quartz movement. The two-pusher chronograph complication is distinguished by red hands - a central second hand, 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, and 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock. The Chronograph also features a perpetual calendar date function, shown through an aperture between 4 and 5 o’clock. Making adjustments to the time and date are simplified thanks to the intelligent crown. There are a variety of style options with dials available in black, silvered, blue or carbon. Black hands and indexes are filled with Super LumiNova®. Round cases are available in stainless steel or black PVD, and come in two sizes - 42mm or 44mm. The quartz movement L289 developed exclusively for Longines stands out for its high degree of precision as an analog watch (with an accuracy of ±5 seconds/ year). The GPD (Gear Position Detection) system allows for resetting of the hands after an impact or exposure to a magnetic field. Add to this a very long battery life (with end of battery life signals). At last year’s Baselworld, Longines introduced it first all COSC-certified collection. The Record is back this year with several new additions, expanding on what is already a very impressive offering. New models, intended for both men and women, are adorned with rose gold, epitomising the elegant style of the Saint-Imier watchmaker. The wristwatches of the Record collection are available in four sizes (26, 30, 38.5 and 40mm) and a large variety of dials (including white mother-of-pearl and blue sunray). The Record features a discreet date window at 3 o’clock. Hands are blued steel or rhodium-plated. Some models even boast an inlay of diamonds. The stainless steel and rose gold or 18k rose gold cases all feature sapphire casebacks, exposing one of two self-winding mechanical movements - L592 (40-hour power reserve) for the 26 and 30mm models, L888 (64-hour power reserve) for the 38.5 and 40mm models. Both are certified chronometers (awarded by the Contrôle officiel suisse des chronomètres - Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute). The movements use silicon balance springs, which are lightweight, resistant to corrosion, and unaffected by normal temperature variations, magnetic fields or atmospheric pressure. The new look for this aquatic sports watch is really impressive. The HydroConquest features a rotating diving bezel enhanced with a coloured ceramic insert that looks amazing and helps elevate this model to the next level. The scratch-resistant ceramic matches the colour of the dial, and - in a touch of brilliance - both the bezel design and dial have been pared down dramatically from previous versions, giving the sporty HydroConquest a modern style. Another nuance is the Breguet seconds hand. All hands and hour markers are filled with Super LumiNova® and stand out in sharp contrast to the dark look of the new black, grey and blue sunray dials. With screw-down crown and case back, the HydroConquest comes in stainless steel in 41mm and 43mm sizes, with three hands and a date window at 3 o’clock. The new L888 calibre is driving the show in both and offers 64 hours of power reserve. A chronograph version will become available, offered in the 41mm diameter circular case. In production for over a decade, Longines leading collection - which has offered an array of complications over the years - introduces the company’s first annual calendar watch. This useful complication, displaying month and date at 3 o’clock automatically manages the varying month lengths, requiring correction only once a year at the beginning of March. The dial layout cleverly employs simplicity to create a legible yet visually satisfying aesthetic. Three stamped “barleycorn” dials will be available - silver-finished with either Arabic numerals or diamond indexes, and black with Roman numerals - and a fourth in sunray blue with hour bars, paired with blued steel or rhodium-plated, leaf-shaped hands. The round, stainless steel case measures 40mm. The Annual Calendar is controlled by a new mechanical movement exclusive to Longines. The automatic L897 calibre produces 64 hours of power reserve and is visible through the transparent case back. Blue is the signature colour of Longines. Whether it be on the dial or the hands, few watch manufacturers use the colour more tastefully than the winged hourglass brand. Here we see it combined superbly in a symbol of the classic elegance of Longines. La Grande Classique de Longines receives sunray blue dials in all four case sizes (24, 29, 36, and 37mm). Dials are available with inlaid stone, inlaid diamond or Roman numeral hour markers, paired with baton-shaped, rhodium-plated hands. Blue straps have also been introduced to the collection. The appeal of this timepiece is its unique, extra-slim construction (the lugs are a patented design) - there are models for both men and women, all in stainless steel. The 24mm diameter case uses a quartz movement L209, while the larger cases all employ the quartz movement L420. The 36mm diameter case is also available with a self-winding mechanical movement - the L592 calibre, with 40 hours of reserve power. Models are offered on either a blue alligator strap with buckle or a stainless steel bracelet, and all are rated water resistant to 30m.

Blue is also the central theme for the Longines Elegant Collection this year. Inspired by one of Longines’ key values, Elegance, the collection combines simplicity with classic styling and is designed to be worn by both men and women. The 2018 version comes with sunray blue dials and blue straps, that introduce a contemporary look without compromising on the timeless design. Five case sizes are available (25.5, 29, 34.5, 37 and 39mm), with a choice of baton-style or diamond inlay hour markers. Hands are baton-shaped, rhodium-plated. A discreet date window appears at 3 o’clock. Movements are mechanical self-winding. The two smaller models use the L592 calibre, giving a 40-hour power reserve, and the three larger models use the new L888 calibre, giving a 64-hour power reserve.
